CARAPACE
Selections From Carapace Series
2012 to current
A carapace is a protective, camouflaging, and/or decorative exoskeleton of animal groups such as crustaceans, arachnids, and turtles. This bony structure grows along with the creature, serving as a primary defense against enemies and other dangers in the innate quest for survival.
The practice of re-working/re-drawing/re-sculpting the work is constant and achieved by both hand and pixel. Distorting twisting, turning forms inside-out reveals their making as well as their essence. My intentions are to evoke the transformative qualities of these abstracted forms, all-at-once vulnerable and restrictive — protective and resilient.
